Story
Thank you for taking time to visit my page, this September I have set myself the challenge of doing The Great North Run. I will be running for Alzheimer's Society. With my grandad suffering from the illness I would like to raise money and awareness.
Dementia can affect anyone and is caused by diseases of the brain, one of these is Alzheimer’s. There are currently over 800,000 people with dementia in the UK and this figure will rise to over 1 million by 2021. Dementia is terminal and there is no cure. One in three people over 65 will die with dementia. Alzheimer’s Society supports people to live well with dementia today and funds research to find a cure for tomorrow.
Heres how the money raised can help;
£50 -could enable four callers to Alzheimer’s Society’s Helpline to receive the information and support they need.
£100 -could support a person with dementia to receive two fortnightly befriending visits with a volunteer, enabling them to continue with their hobbies and interests.
£200 -could help run one session of Singing for the Brain®, an Alzheimer’s Society activity that is designed to be a fun, stimulating and social activity for people in the early to moderate stages of dementia.
£500 -could pay for two sessions of our Carers’ Programme for 12 carers. The Carers’ Programme offers practical tips and strategies to help carers to cope with the impact of dementia and gives them information so that they can access local services and start preparing for the future.
£1000 -could pay for one person to visit a dementia café every week for a whole year providing information and support to people with dementia in an informal setting.
I would love to raise as much money as possible in the upcoming months, any donation will be greatly appreciated.
Thank You Hannah
