I am taking part in the Great North Run this September with Blood Cancer UK,  in memory of my friend Hannah Wooldridge who sadly passed away after a 7 month battle with Leukaemia, a type of blood cancer, in April this year at the very young age of 22. 

There are over 100 types of blood cancer and it is the most common type of cancer amongst children, teenagers and young people in the UK, with around 240,000 people in the UK living with blood cancer. 

Blood Cancer UK funds research to help find a cure for blood cancer and to enhance treatment options for people living with blood cancer. They provide support to people living with blood cancer and their families by offering someone to talk to over the phone or online and provide health information in a way that people can understand. 

Hannah was a beautiful, strong, inspirational young woman who never complained once throughout her journey with blood cancer. She was extremely grateful to the charities who supported her on her journey with blood cancer, one being Blood Cancer UK and was determined to raise money for the charity to help more people like her and hopefully one day find a cure for blood cancer. That is why I am doing this, for Hannah, Hannah’s family and for the many other people like Hannah who are or have unfortunately had to experience this awful disease. 

Let’s raise money to aid research and provide support to people like Hannah and their families through their journey with blood cancer.
