Story
This charity, I feel, is not seen as high profile as the others, but yet is such a worthy cause. Within my immediate family, we have suffered the loss of both my grandparents, my grandfather died of Lung Cancer from smoking heavily over 35 years ago, which was before I was born and consequently my Gran contracted Emphysema passively and suffered for half her life in pain as a result of my grandfather smoking heavily in her presence. My Gran was the rock and guidance of my life. When things got tough she was always there not just for me but others as well. The hardest thing was to let her go, even after watching her with a disease had taken so much of her life and energy. She was a passionate lady for helping others and I feel that she would be devastated to hear of how little awareness there is of this disease that kills so many non smokers as well as smokers, and yet is tarnished and stereotyped to only those who smoke and how they bought it on themselves.
