Story
On May 14th 2023 I will be running the Rob Burrows Leeds Marathon to raise money for the MNDA who support those currently living with MND and fund research to get us one step closer to finding treatments and a cure for this awful disease.
My mum Julia Coletta was diagnosed with MND when I was 14 and sadly past in February 2011 at the age of 43.
MND is a rapidly progressing neurological disease that attacks the nerves that control movement so the muscles no longer work.
6 people are diagnosed with MND every day in the UK and a third of those die within a year of diagnosis. At present there is no cure.
My family and I have seen and lived through the devastating impact of this disease so I want to raise any money I can to try to make the lives of those going through this that little bit easier and to eventually stop this from being the fatal illness it is today.
This is the first time I have ever attempted to run a marathon so I will be putting everything I can into training for this. If mum was here, before her diagnosis, she would have definitely been giving it a go with me and would have probably been able to do it a lot quicker too! So she will be running with me in spirit.
Any money you can donate would be greatly appreciated.
