Story
Hello everyone and thank you for looking at our page! xxx
Those of you that know me will know and understand how important this marathon is to me and the girls. In June 2011 one of my best friends was tragically killed in a road accident in Italy. This very special person was Dr Debbie Woods. Debs had qualified as a Clinical Psychologist, had secured a full time job and was starting to consider the next chapter in her life with her Fiancée, Graham. Debbie was one of life's beautiful people, inside and out. She was loved and respected where ever she went and was always well liked by everyone she met. Debbie was inspirational, caring, captivating and a wonderful woman.
Personally and professionally Debbie had a passion for mental health and reducing the stigma that is sadly associated with this. Debbie's hard work and empathy meant that she was a fantastic Clinical Psychologist and inspired many people following in her footsteps. Debbie saw people as people, regardless of age, race, gender, religious beliefs or mental health difficulties. When Debbie spoke to you, she made you feel like the most important person in the world. Debbie was very giving, thoughtful and had a fabulous sense of humour. She would also do anything for anyone. Now it's time that we do something for Debbie...
On 6th October 2013, myself, Katie, Gemma and Sarah will be running (or crawling) the Chester Marathon for Debbie. We are raising money for MIND, the mental health charity. We chose MIND as Debbie volunteered for MIND and given that we are following in Debbie's footsteps as Clinical Psychologists, mental health is a topic we are all very passionate about.
Please donate whatever you can or support us on the day. We are all very grateful and want everyone to remember Debbie. She is forever in our hearts.
