Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page naively  we  have decided to take on this legendary challenge that is the Marathon du Médoc. Our legs will attempt to carry us round over 30 chateaux and 26.2 miles with the added distraction of oysters and fine wine along the way. No wonder it is billed as the longest marathon in the world!

Greg & Vicky have been picked as Handfords elite athletes! They are running as members of Team Cox,  in memory of Michael Cox a much missed former master of the vintners company.   We are raising funds for The Benevolent - The Drinks Industry Charity and  The Vintners' Foundation.  Both charities were ones that Michael particularly supported.  The Benevolent gives financial, emotional and practical support to those in the drinks trade who are suffering from illness, disability or when an individual’s quality of life, through no fault of their own, has been devastated by sad and unforeseen circumstances. You can read about several of these case studies by clicking here.  The Vintners Foundation works with a number of wine trade-related charities such as those working with alcohol misuse and alcohol education. All donations will be divided equally between the two charities.

Every donation received is truly appreciated and so please support our challenge generously.

Please leave your guess of our combined marathon time with your message when you donate in order to be entered into our sweepstake.

Many Thanks Greg &  Vicky
