I am taking part in a social architecture project in second year. Selected students are raising £100,000 between us with the charity 'Education Africa' to fund building materials and equipment in order to design and build from scratch a pre-school and facilities for locals over a 6-7 week period.

The CHARITY... is Education Africa.

The PLACE... is the rural, under-developed Calais Village (in Limpopo, South Africa).

The BRIEF... is to design and build an Early Learning Nursery, providing the possibilty for a decent education for children aswell as providing work for locals.

The PLAN... Along with a team of fellow Second Year Architecture students, I will be designing the pre-school (around September 2010). The design will be worked on and tweaked by everyone including Fifth Year students and Tutors/Architects. In April 2010, we will fly over and help with the construction itself.


I need to raise at least £2,000 as soon as possible (anything raised before July 31st 2010 will be matched by the Uni.)...
