It’s been forty years since I left the Corps,

My joints now ache and my sight is poor,

Commands fade from the parade ground square,

At least I have my bloody hair!!

My teeth are intact and all in place,

But my waistline’s vanished without a trace,

I last saw my feet two years ago,

These late night curries have to go!

So now I’m going to get in gear

500 miles to run this year
