We are a few friends trying to raise money for one very special little girl. We love her more than chips or chocolate and would like to make a shed load of money to make her childhood memories extra special.
Those of you that know Nick and I will already know that we are going to need to take four paces to Nigel and Sophie's two! We are just so glad that Kirsty will be there to provide additional medical support during the last 49k too!
Training is going well and The Hammonds already have a couple of medals under their belts, so we're a good team to back. Please dig deep and show your support for Haley's Comets - Bringing light to Battens.
Our beautiful little UPRFC cheerleader, this one's for you xxxxx
We did it! After 13 long, cold hours we crossed the finish line in darkness at Henley on Thames. Some of us had to go to work on crutches the following week, and others in our slippers but we are so proud of our battle scars (or blisters) and all that we achieved on the day. It was a truly emotional moment when, a few hours after finishing we checked the Just Giving page and realised that our target of £1500 had been totally smashed!
Special thanks has to go to Brian Haley and Tom Jessop, who hadn't registered as part of the team due to injuries. However, they drove ahead to every rest stop, parked up and walked back the 8km or so to meet us and return to the rest stop with us!! In total I'm sure they walked at least 60km and truly deserve their own sponsorship.
This is my final update for the Thames Path Challenge 2013, so the Haley's Comets would like to thank each and every one of you for your generous donations in such financially hard times. It will make a world of difference to families of Battens sufferers, and will certainly provide much needed support to our little lady and her family.
Bless you all,
Tracy and the Comets x
