Haiyan-Aid is a project started by The Clove Club and a number of other restaurants that has now gone global! Its aim is to help those people who have been affected by the Haiyan Typhoon. Reports are that an estimated 10,000 people are feared to have lost their lives in the storm. Over 9 Million people have been affected, with many struggling to survive without food, shelter or clean drinking water. Over the next few weeks ourselves and our restaurant peers will add an optional £1 donation to every customers bill. This £1 will also be matched by the restaurant so the business as well as the customer contributes. We hope to have as many restaurants take part as possible to make as much money for such a worthy cause.
We have chosen to support the Disasters Emergency Committee as a group that brings the 14 main UK aid agencies together at times of crisis. The breadth of experience across these teams make the aid appropriate, accessible, experienced and ensures its accessing where need is greatest.
Our thoughts lie with those effected by this disaster, and those on the ground working tirelessly to help.
Thanks for your generosity.
