Story
This year,
Cancer Research UK has been chosen as the official charity for Miss Great
Britain. It is optional whether or not finalists want to raise funds
individually, but Miss Great Britain will be supporting the charity in numerous
ways, including proceed donations gained from their 70th Anniversary Party held
on Friday 7th August at The City Rooms, Leicester.
Hearing
others' stories of their experiences, I plan to help raise awareness and funds
for Cancer Research UK.I
have been very lucky with my own health but there are people close to my heart
who have met with cancer. Some lost their battle whilst others are survivors.
My main fundraising event will be my head shave.
As my friends and family know, my hair takes an incredibly long time to grow, so to shave it off is a huge challenge for me. Many people shave their entire head; for personal reasons I have chosen to get an undercut. In order to impact my own life, I have decided to do this BEFORE the grand final for Miss Great Britain 2015.
I am not sure how I will feel on the night without half of my
hair, but it is a small sacrifice in comparison to those faced by many others.
The undercut will be completely exposed when my hair is up-as it is most
days-and I will be having a design, to be revealed nearer the time.
My
target is a large rounded figured, with 4 weeks to go I hope to raise as much
money as possible for the cause.
In
the words of Tesco, 'Every little helps'. Even if you have just 1p to spare,
please donate if you would like to support Cancer Research UK too.
