We are a group of unfit 40 somethings, cycling Coast to Coast (Morecambe Bay to Bridlington) over 3 days to raise money for the CF Trust.
Henry was born with Cystic Fibrosis, he is 7 years old, and an amazing little boy.
Myself, Paul Stratford, Phil Taubman, Brett Wilson, Johnathan Eyre, Chris Moody & Pete James, will be taking up the challenge, on Saturday 23rd May - Come on lets Kick Some CF Butt!
Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited life shortening disease, affecting over 10,000 people in the UK. CF is caused by a faulty gene, this gene controls the movement of salt & water in & out of your cells. Because of this your bodily secretions become thick & sticky, resulting in your lungs & digestive system becoming clogged with mucus, making it hard to breath and digest food.
Cf is a degenerative disease, to keep healthy, Henry must exercise regularly, eat a high fat/calories diet (needing 50% more calories than a healthy child), and take daily medication(20/30 tablets per day), nebulisers (4 per day) & physiotherapy (2/3 times per day).
The average life expectancy for a person with CF is currently 41.There is no cure for CF.
