Story
Kink are proud to be holding their 9th Annual HAIRathon in aid of two amazing charities, No Panic and the Bernice Cowen Charitable Trust.
These two charities are very important to all of us at Kink, whether a family member who has experienced anxiety and associated issues or perhaps a friend who developed cancer; we all know someone who has been affected in some way.
No Panic offers a full range of services for people who suffer from
Panic Attacks, Phobias and Obsessive/Compulsive Disorder including,
literature, CD’s and DVD’s, a membership scheme and “contact” book
service wherein members are able to make pen-friends or phone friends
with other people who have similar problems. They also offer telephone
recovery groups which are of special benefit to people who live in rural
or isolated areas where access to local face-to-face self help groups
or statutory support is very limited.
The Bernice Cowen Charitable Trust is a small charity run by family and friends to keep their promise to one extremely special person, Bernice Sandra Cowen.
In the short time they have been established they have raised a staggering £37,000 for Action Against Cancer.
This charity was set up by Bernice's oncologist, Professor Justin
Stebbing . Justin treated Bernice at a time when all other doors had been shut to them and they were told that nothing else could be done for Bernice. Justin is looking to block the cancer genes to prevent people from developing the disease; hoping that one day cancer will be something that you live with rather than you die from. His team is already working on one such gene.
Everyone at Kink is excited to do all they can to help raise money for this year's chosen charities and our clients, friends and families never fail to disappoint with their generosity and support.
Lets make this HAIRathon the biggest one yet!
