Story
Hello there!
Although I was super excited to run the 2023 London Marathon, an ill-timed tibial stress fracture meant I had to postpone the race. Thanks to the great people at CCLG, they've given me the opportunity to run for them in 2024!
Fifty years ago, the mortality rate of children diagnosed with cancer was a high as 75%. Despite the remarkable scientific and medical advancements since then, too many children and families are affected by cancer. Each week in the UK and Ireland, more than 30 children are diagnosed with cancer and around 1 in 8 children do not survive.
The team at CCLG are made up of a wide-range health professionals - from doctors and nurses to data managers and clinical trial experts - who aim to share best practice and provide patients and their families with the best possible care, information and advice.
My fundraising target is £2,000, and every pound raised will help fund information and research that enables quicker diagnosis and kinder more effective treatments, shaping a future where every child diagnosed with cancer survives to live happy, healthy and independent lives.
I started running in 2021 to better my physical and mental health after a less than active lockdown. Running has become a regular part of my life since then. I'm really grateful for the opportunity to run for CCLG and I'm thankful for the support and donations as you follow me on my journey. Follow @guyruns_ldn4cclg on Instagram for more updates!
