In memory of Dhilan Bahi
We building resilient communities globally to support rural communities and women

Story

The Growth Network and Women’s Network are collaborating
with Barefoot College India to run a 2-part charity event in memory of Dhilan
Bahi, a graduate who was due to join EDF-R in September 2022, but tragically
passed away prior to starting the scheme. Dhilan felt strongly about climate
change and the future of the planet, in particular he was passionate about
combating energy poverty in India, writing his dissertation on “Measuring
Energy Poverty through Wellbeing and Gender Equality in India”.

We would like to play a part in continuing Dhilan’s legacy
by supporting Barefoot College, who train illiterate and semi-literate women in
energy-poor states in India to be solar engineers. Through these training
programmes, local communities and the livelihoods of women within them are transformed
as they work towards the electrification of rural villages.
