Story

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page raising money for the MND Association, by sponsoring me your money will help people affected by Motor Neurone Disease. The MND Association is the only national charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland dedicated to improve care and support for people affected by MND .

Motor Neurone Disease is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting. There is currently no cure.

In August 2015, after years of tests, misdiagnosis and ineffective treatments, my Dad was diagnosed with MND. As a family, we do everything we can to support this charity in the hope that one day they will find a cure for this horrendous disease, and this time it’s my turn to take myself out my comfort zone.

In just a few months time I will be taking part in the London Marathon - considering I am not a runner and my main hobby is sitting round a lake fishing this is going to be a challenge! I signed up to do this when the ballots opened but didn’t get a spot, however I received a call this morning to say someone has pulled out due to illness so here I am, asking for your donations. Any amount, no matter how large or small will go a long way and will be appreciated more than you know by me and my family. It’s not until a family member or loved one is diagnosed with this disease and you watch the effects it has that you realise how cruel it is.

Thanks for taking the time to read my story
