Story
Mary Ann Evans Hospice Fund raising
Recenty when watching th daily coronavirus update Hospices were highlighted as charities suffering from a downturn in donations during this dreadful pandemic so knowing, as I do, what wonderful people they are I was minded to donate. Then I thought perhaps that I could do more.
I have donated before as have Nuneaton Old Edwardians Rugby Club via out Annual Beer and Pimms Festival. I have subsequently come to the conclusion that it would be fun to run a campaign raising money purely for the charity whilst at the same time raising public awareness of the good things that the club is doing for our grass roots amateur sport and increase our fan base on Facebook which is already the largest in the Midlands below the big boy professionals in the Premiership and Championship.(Levels 1 & 2) Our grass roots club plays at a modest level 7.
So here is my challenge. I will post regularly something relevant to the Charity, grass roots rugby or the Ed’s until the target is met. The target is £2000. I have just donated £250 initially and will add spice by adding more, up to a total of £1000, as the Ed’s fans add likes to the page. Personally I will be regarding this as bit of fun whilst serving 2 good causes.
The Eds themselves are registered with the Inland Revenue as an official charity but will be taking no money from this. We are currently running at 4014 likes, from a baseline of 500 eighteen months ago. The highly ambitious target for me is 5000 at which point I will have increased my own contribution to the aforesaid £1000.
I am hoping of course that the other monies required to get to the 2K total will be found from the generosity of other donors.
Remember it costs nothing to click the LIKE Button on our page to support what we do. I will donate a further £250 when we reach 4500 ie. 50p per like over 4000.
