Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
OK folks I committed myself to no booze for 31 days starting from January the 1st!
I am raising funds for PcASO (Prostate Cancer Support Organisation is a patient support group covering Dorset, Hampshire and Sussex), who have been a real help to me in the last couple months.
PcASO is an organisation ran by prostrate cancer survivors, as well an men with the disease who are undergoing treatment, that raise the awareness of this particular cancer that affects 1 in 8 men. They also run PSA blood testing events, which helps identify guys who maybe at risk, and needing further investigation.
They also offer their experiences of treatments they have gone through themselves, for those awaiting to decide on which treatments may be best. Every guy is different, at different stages of the disease. My cancer is at a localised advanced stage, meaning it is starting to break out of my prostate wall, and so having spoken some PcASO members, and my consultants I have decided that surgery (a prostatectomy...say that after a few large ones!) was my best option rather than the radiotheraphy option.
I would like to thank Chris Hawkes and Brian Holden from PcASO and Clive Hancocks who directed me to this great organisation, consultants Mr Rimington, Mr Robinson and Mr Hunyadi, Rupert Akerman, Dr Shilitto, Danny my MacMillan nurse, and all at the Urology Team at Princess Royal and Eastbourne hospitals.
