I lost my oldest brother Vic (49) and my step father Jim to cancer and my mum has won three battles against this horrific disease.

I also lost my wonderful neighbours George and Anne Adams to cancer and this happened within a couple of years.

Myself and two collegues, Andy and Ally, are going to cycle fron John'O'Groats to Lands End starting on June 18th 2011.

We are all novice cyclists and although we all work in the leisure industry we are under no illusions that this will be the toughest thing we've ever done.

We hope to complete the gruelling journey in 12 days, cycling for at least 7 hours per day.

I am 45 now and will be 46 when the event takes place and reckon this will be my last chance to try and make a difference to cancer sufferers and gain a massive sense of personal achievement by undertaking such a mammoth challenge.

I hope this is the last I've had to deal with the trauma of cancer but I would doubt that.

It's time to fight back against one of the most horrific diseases we'll ever come across.

Please give as little or much as you can towards this good cause.
