Story

My name is Graham Young and I will be 65 years old on 8th April 2014.  I was born in Chichester and my parent Bill and Joan were both members of the Chichester Cycling Club.

In May I will be embarking on an American cycling adventure in aid of St Wilfrid’s Hospice.

When I start pedalling on the east coast it will be the beginning of an 8,557 mile journey, starting in Boston and taking in the Nevada desert and the Appalachian Mountains. The ride will be largely unsupported, and I hope to raise a £1 for each mile I ride - £8,557 for St Wilfrid’s.

For the last decade the idea of cycling around America has been circling my mind and since Christmas I have been riding a minimum of 250 miles a week in preparation. I am a member of Bognor Regis Cycling Club and receive strong support from its members, including one of the nurses at St Wilfrid’s who is part of the group.

St Wilfrid’s plays a major role in the lives of the people of Chichester and the surrounding area. I cannot put into words the love and kindness these angels give to patients and their families, this is why I have decided to try to raise some money for the hospice.

You’ll be able to follow my progress on my blog - http://wheelsuckerusa.blogspot.co.uk/ - along the way I’ll be taking photographs and sending progress reports back to my sons to upload.

This feat is not for the faint-hearted so please help me in my quest in aid of St Wilfrid’s.
