Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Unfortunately over the last 10 years my very close family has been heavily effected by dementia. It really can happen to any of us!
I decided to raise money this year for The Monthly Alzheimer's Support Evenings (MASE). An amazing charity offering help to carers and their loved ones who are on the journey of dementia.
For what I will have to endure for 15 hours of hard work and pain (2.4 mile sea swim, 112mile bike ride and a marathon 26.2 mile, without a break and within 15 hours) is nothing compared to what sufferers, carers and their loved ones have to go through every single day.
I thank you massively in advance for your contributions. Every penny we raise will make a huge difference to providing better times for these sufferers.
Facts on Dementia:
The word dementia describes a set of symptoms that may include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language. These changes are often small to start with, but for someone with dementia they have become severe enough to affect daily life. A person with dementia may also experience changes in their mood or behaviour.
850,000 people have dementia in the UK.
The number of people with dementia in the UK is forecast to increase to over 1 million by 2025 and over 2 million by 2051.
