Story
Ladies and Gents,
"In January 2009 my gorgeous 9 year old daughter Verity was unexpectedley diagnosed with a rare genetic condition known as Gauchers disease, which is incurable and only effects 1 in 100,000 people.
Imagine the horror to find out that someone close to you has this or another condition that would effect the rest of their life!!
Within a week of being diagnosed Verity had been refered to a specialist team at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Only days later we were informed that GOSH had secured funding to enable Verity to receive fortnightly Enzyme Replacement Treatment for the rest of her life.
Over the course of the next six months Verity had to endure frequent visits to GOSH, in order to receive various tests and infusions, along with having to undergo an operation to implant a 'port' into the side of her chest, to enable easy access for her lifetime of treatment.
Thankfully due to the support and kindness shown by the Doctors and Nurses at GOSH, and to the bravery and strength shown by our daughter,Verity is now receiving home treatment, and is thriving in every aspect of her life.
I can never repay the debt I owe to these wonderful people at GOSH, however in order to show my thanks and appreciation, and to show how proud I am of my gorgeous little girl, I am looking to run the Brighton Marathon on 11th April 2011, in support of Great Ormond Street.
Please help me in supporting Great Ormand Street Hospital, whose sole aim is to treat our children when they most need it, by donating whatever you can spare.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page."
