Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and finding out about my awesome niece.
In 2009, at 8 years of age, Roisin was diagnosed with an auto-immune liver disease (Primary Sclerosing Cholingitis). This was treated and stabilised with medication and allowed her to carry on with the things she loved like dancing and cheerleading. However, in 2014/15 tests showed that the liver was failing and causing disruption to other organs. In December 2015 the decision was made to put her forward for a transplant and 6 months later she made it on to the waiting list. In September 2016 Roisin underwent the surgery and successfully received a full graft liver transplant.
The reason I'm running this marathon is to raise money and awareness for the charity who has helped Roisin for the last eight years whilst she has dealt with this disease. CLDF hold family fun days where people can get together, share experiences and (importantly) have fun. Through some of the residential camps run by this charity, Roisin has made some lasting friendships with other sufferers. The mutual support of these relationships are incredibly important leading up to transplant, recovery and beyond.
Roisin took part in TTT - Talk Tell Transform. This gave the kids the opportunity to record part of their liver journey as a digital story. The following links will show you the result. Copy them into your browser.

Roisin is by no means out of the woods but the transplant and the help given by this awesome charity has given her a chance for her to get her life back and allow her to achieve her dreams. Thanks for reading, watching and giving X
