Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

A Quick Update to say that 'WE MADE IT"! Thank you to everyone who has supported us during this adventure. It was an experience we will remember for a very long time, in addition to knowing that your kind donations really will make a difference to those people sadly affected by the UK's largest Cancer killer to the under 40's!

My dear brother-in-law Brian lost his wife 12 years ago to a brain tumour. Sarah was 34 years old when she passed and left two gorgeous young daughters Grace (7) and Abby (5) at the time. Brain tumours are utterly indiscriminate and devastating to sufferers and their families by affecting such an important organ - our brains - taking away independence, ability to communicate and even recognise loved ones. Much more research is needed to increase chances of survival and reduce the harm caused.

Given my newfound past-time of cycling, discovered during lockdown as an escape from my computer screen, I am setting myself the goal of cycling 100 miles (161km) in a day.

I'm delighted to say I am being joined by my dear friend Peter, who has been instrumental in getting me back out on my bike. Our route will start from Ilfracombe in north Devon and end in Plymouth in the south, so a coast to coast ride over Dartmoor!

For those who know me well, prior to lockdown the furthest I had ridden in the past 30 years was 3km to the office, through the busy, and flat roads of London, often being overtaken by elderly people on their way back from the shops ladened with shopping.

The Sarah Howison Foundation was set up to help raise money and awareness for The Brain Tumour Charity, please help me make my physical exertion on Thursday 27th May worthwhile and support a great cause.
