Story

I am setting out to run (or walk) the Bath Half Marathon, 6 weeks after an accident that I haven't fully recovered from , not just to raise funds but also awareness. Yet, the distance I run will not even be a percentage on the scale that some people have to travel to get to a safe destination. This refugee crisis is not the first in the world and it certainly won't be the last. Refugees and asylum seekers are not a new phenomenon. But, at the end of the day, all that matters is that they are people just like you and me. It doesn't matter where we come from but that we are all equals and deserve safety and love. I strongly believe that no human is illegal, everyone should have the right to a safe and happy life and home no matter their age, race, religion, gender, sexuality or nationality.

No one deserves what is going on in Aleppo right now or the civil wars in Sudan and Eritrea.

STAR is a charity very close to my heart and set out for a cause that I believe should not have to exist. The National Charity oversees over 30 student groups based at universities and colleges across the UK. STAR runs various campaigns such as Equal Access, aiming to get bursaries and grants for asylum seekers and Refugees to enable them to access higher education, volunteer projects such as women's groups and aid centres and many fundraising events.

If you want to get involved, please message me and find out what opportunities we offer and keep and eye out for our Refugee Week 23rd-29th January down in Exeter.

We are all human, we should do all that we can to support each other and unite.
