Berlin Marathon 2015 · 27 September 2015 ·
My 71 year old dad and I are going to run the Berlin marathon this year to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity. We are running this for dad’s wife and my beautiful step-mum Bhavna Jones who, as some of you will know, was tragically diagnosed with a brain tumour last year.
Words can't do justice to how amazing this woman is and the strength that she has for herself and for us all. Running a marathon is nothing in comparison to the battle that she has been fighting for this past year but hopefully in doing so we will raise some money to go towards a cause that is dear to our hearts.
You can read more about brain cancer here, where you can also find out more about The Brain Tumour Charity itself. However, here's a few top line facts that will show you why this would be a worthy cause to donate your money towards:
1. Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of the under 40s, including children.
2. Brain tumours reduce life expectancy by, on average, 20 years - the highest of any cancer.
3. Just 14% of adults survive for five years after diagnosis.
