Thank you for visiting my Just Giving Page.
At the age of 14, I suffered with an eating disorder: anorexia mostly. It changed a lot of things in my life, I had to stop dancing, which I had been doing since the age of 6, and wanted this to be my career. I stopped going to school, and it affected many of my relationships with my friends and family. I suffered with this, and depression, on and off and it resulted in a trip to the hospital to be assessed that finally triggered my recovery. Despite recovering, and being 'better' by the time I was 17, I was still struggling at times between the ages of 18 and 19. Since recovering, I have always wanted to raise money for an eating disorder charity, and last year I decided 2016 would be the year I did so.
I had incredible support throughout my time being poorly from the CHAMS team at Loughborough Hospital, although unfortunately, I don't believe the department is there anymore. But either way, thank you to them: specifically Nikki and Alison, and to my family who I have put through more than anyone will ever know, and who still adore me for the person I have become because of my eating disorder. Also, thank you to anyone else out there who supported me for a time, I know I had more than my fair share of help and I will not deny you my thanks for that.
Looking back, I wouldn't change a thing. It has taught me many lessons and made me into a better person than I ever thought I could be. Hopefully, with a little bit of help from myself and your donations, Beat can continue the great work they are doing and the conversations about mental health and eating disorders can be started, and continued. Any donation, big or small, I would be very grateful for. Just Giving sends it directly to the charity, so I won't be handling any of the money.
Finally, I would like to thank my mum, dad, brother and fiancee for not laughing at me when I said I wanted to do this and for continuing to be more supporting and loving than I could ever ask for! :)
