In memory of Mary Leishman

Story

Mary Leishman was my mother-in-law and a much-loved, wonderful lady. Sadly Mary passed away in February last year, leaving everyone who knew her devastated by her sudden death from cancer.

The family and some close friends set up the Mary Leishman Foundation to keep Mary's name alive and to raise funds for worthy causes close to Mary's heart.

The first fundraiser was our "Dander for Mary" which took place on the Fife Coastal Path last August.

With my missus Kate, her dad Big Jim and brother Jamie we all set off on a 100 mile trek in some beautiful Scottish weather. We were amazed by the support we received along the way. It was an emotional time for the family and plenty of tears were shed. Check out the pics to see how it all finished with a massive turnout under the Forth Bridge.

Loads of our pals have offered to donate on Just Giving - and we've only just managed to get it set up. Really sorry for the delay but getting the official charity number took a while.

It's an unusual thing collecting the wedge so long after the event, but the walk came about a lot more quickly than the admin.

It would mean the world to Kate, Jim, Jamie and I if you gave us some of your hard-earned cash for the cause. The Foundation has made well over £120k in less than a year, an incredble achievement by everyone involved.

The money will start being distributed after the Foundation Ball at the end of February. The main chunk of cash will go towards an ambulance to transport cancer patients home from hospital in Fife - something Mary didn't have access to in her final days which seemed so unfair.

Thanks in advance to all of you for your generosity.
