To celebrate 2012 being the London Olympic Year, and of course to help us all stay fit and healthy, we have come up with the Goodwater Africa Challenge to raise money for our chosen charity - WaterAid.
WaterAid’s mission is to improve the lives of people in some of the poorest communities in the world by improving their access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation. We take this sort of thing for granted so it is only right that we more privileged people do everything we can to help.
Our team of employees and friends are looking to run, walk, swim, cycle, row and ski our way as a combined force from the Goodwater offices near Reading, Berks to the Monze region of Zambia in Africa.
We must stress that we are not actually following the route to Zambia but will instead be aiming to clock up an equivalent number of miles in the gym, pool or out and about on the local roads, paths and countryside.
The 11,250 mile virtual route will take in over 30 different countries and is broken down into 50 stages which we are hoping to achieve in 50 weeks. This means an average of 225 miles per week starting from 1 January 2012.
We shall be asking our suppliers and customers as well as our families and friends to sponsor our team, so hopefully you can support us and make a donation to this fantastic charity - your help would be hugely appreciated.
We shall update this page as we progress on our challenge and may even post photos and news items as there may be the odd themed week along the way!
