Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit Goodman UK JustGiving page.

Goodman UK are supporting the Wooden Spoon charity for 2012.

The Wooden Spoon was founded in the early 1980’s by five rugby enthusiasts and exists to make a positive impact on the lives of disadvantaged children and young people.  We at Goodman have teamed up with Wooden Spoon as the main sponsors of their ‘Game On’ programme aimed at using the “power of sport” to provide opportunities for disabled and disadvantaged people.

On 28 – 30 June four teams from Goodman UK will take part in the Wooden Spoon 4 Peaks Challenge.  This involves climbing the highest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis at 4406 ft), England (Helvellyn at 3117 ft), Wales (Snowdon at 3559 ft) and Ireland (Carantouhill at 3414 ft) within 48 hours.

Teams will consist of three ‘climbers’ and a dedicated driver who will not only drive between each location but will also tend to the needs of their teammates.  Services are currently being negotiated by those who have volunteered to drive!  The thought of traditional Irish hospitality at the end of the trip is enough to spur the teams on but before that some serious training is underway in preparation for the adventure, not to mention map reading classes for the drivers!

Everyone at Goodman is taking part in raising funds for this magnificent cause. And this is where we need your help.  We’re hoping that you will be able to contribute to the challenge by providing a donation to the Wooden Spoon.  We have set a target of raising £20,000 and any donations would be greatly appreciated.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you in advance for your support and generosity.
