Story
Can you imagine sleeping on the streets, then walking to a job interview to help you out of that situation with all your belongings on your back? Neither can we, and nobody should have to.
Street Storage’s mission is to raise funds to provide storage units across London and the UK to those experiencing homelessness, providing short and longer-term storage facilities for those living in poverty and on the streets, giving them peace of mind and a chance to regain some dignity and get back towards rebuilding their lives.
We aim to run 465 miles in total, and raise at least £1,000 - to help Street Storage in its mission.
Sarah Turley, Rough Sleeping Coordinator, Islington Council:
‘Street Storage is a great concept – especially for rough sleepers who have difficulties in engaging with traditional services and who are resistant to come inside. It offers an opportunity to engage with the person where they are in control – i.e. they come to the storage unit and this small amount of time allows the opportunity to build a trusting relationship where brief interventions can happen, which can be built upon. It also means that people can store their documents safely – which is a major issue that prolongs people’s homelessness if they must apply for replacements. We are excited by this pilot in Islington and hope that the pilot can be expanded in order to support more people.’

Street Storage has been amazingly helpful and accommodating! Their lovely teamwork from a safe and discreet location and carefully stored one of our vulnerable client’s belongings whilst she was facing homelessness. Our client was so pleased to be reunited with her things, which had a lot of sentimental value. This is a really great service which helps those facing homelessness to keep hold of their most important belongings, and not lose that part of themselves. I would definitely use this service again and recommend it to others- thank you Street Storage!
