Story
Thanks very much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last year I had one of those dreaded moments - a cancer scare , and I was one of the lucky ones that was tested and told that I was OK. When I made this same ride last year I was waiting for my results and was a little nervous to say the least but I felt what I was doing was important. I was giving something back.
Since then I've constantly been aware how close that dreaded disease is. It's threatened my family and taken the life of a great friend. I've kept my head up by staying close to my friends and keeping active and it's my cycling friend Alexander Milas (Editor in chief of Metal Hammer and founder of the Heavy Metal Cycling Club who kept my spirits high at the beginning of this year) who invited me to once more to undertake this 168 mile cycle ride.
This is my way of raising money for Nordoff Robbins , Teenage Cancer Trust and Childline. I feel very fortunate to have my health and just about enough faculties and of course not forgetting some of the best friends anyone could wish to have , to be able to even consider this ride.
And so once more I ask if you can support and make a donation . Last year I spoke directly to the people from the charities and they explained to me first hand some of the ways that the £78,000 we raised will benefit those that most need it . If you can imagine a teenager with GCSE's coming up , their life ahead of them but having to fight the disease of cancer and fighting with the explosive thoughts running through their minds. Any thing to help them get through that battle , that moment , to give them some faith and to keep on fighting to see some light at the end. There are many stories as you can imagine . Some with happy endings.
Please wish me and my skinny backside good luck. I'm going to need it. This ride will be very sore and exhausting for sure. Thank you for everything and give what you can.
