From September 2010 we will be heading to
Kratie Town in
Cambodia to work with
Voluntary
Service Overseas (VSO). We will be there for 26 months in total and
during that time Gilly will be volunteering
as a Teaching & Training Advisor.
This is part of a programme of work
aimed at delivering teacher training and promoting greater levels of
access and inclusion in education. Education is widely considered to
be fundamentally important in helping people to move out of poverty and
key in helping countries in their development efforts.
Following the widespread killing of teachers under the Khmer Rouge and
the subsequent population boom there are severe shortages of people who
can train teachers in Cambodia, something that Gilly’s work will help
to redress.
Currently Sam doesn't have a job to go to so
any leads are most welcome...
You can
read
more about VSO's work in Cambodia here. We hope we can help in our
own small way, you can help too by making a donation, however small, to
VSO to assist with their global development programmes.
Keep in touch with our progress via
our blog/website and thank you for your support.
