Story
It’s been a Journey!
When Ewan was 3 years old, he was at Aberdeen’s Children’s Hospital for a check-up. All was fine with that referral, but it was then I was told that something else had been spotted during the examination. Ewan was diagnosed with Chronic Multiple Exostoses. Since then, it’s been a journey that has involved X-rays, ultra sounds, MRI scans, consultations, physiotherapy, reviews, and of course the many operations and hospital stays.
For all of these we are extremely grateful and thankful - for our NHS, consultants, specialists, nurses, physios, theatre staff, cleaners etc etc.
The journey is ongoing as Ewan still has issues to be addressed and potentially more operations, but these will take place most likely outwith the Children’s Hospital. Ewan will be 18 later this year.
Ewan has shown remarkable courage throughout all these years and a great positive attitude.
To show my appreciation, I would like to raise some money for the orthopedic side of the Children’s Hospital.
During COVID they have had to do many consultations over zoom, and this will continue for the foreseeable future. I would like to raise enough money to buy a suitable screen that will facilitate this. Also a camera and computer for capturing videos of children walking and other clinical images would be of great benefit to the department.
These items would equate to approx. £3,500. And I would love to reach that and more. “Dream Big” was Ewan’s advice to his Dad, when he was about 7 yrs old!
The distance from our home to the Children’s Hospital is 7 miles so for 30 days I intend to walk 7 miles every day. That equates to 210 miles, 336km, 500,000 steps over the 30 days. I’m depending on my faithful, four-legged friend, Glen, to accompany me much of the way.
I would be so appreciative of any contribution towards this target.
Many thanks from a grateful Mum, Gillian x
