Story

After enjoying the Belfast Marathon I thought I would give this running thing a go. One month later and I have signed up for the Lisburn Half Marathon.

I'm attempting to get my target to £1,000 for a charity that is very close to my heart, Meningitis UK. Meningitis has affected my family, friends and their families throughout my life...

Meningitis is caused when the protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord known as the meninges become inflamed, usually as a result of an infection. The tragedy of this disease is that it commonly affects babies, children and in rare cases teenagers and adults. Meningitis can kill within 4 hours and is treatable if detected in time. Proceeds from fundraising goes towards -

Research for a vaccine that will eradicate meningitis

Promoting public awareness of meningitis and educating people of its symptoms

Bereavement support for parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters

Please help to support my chosen charity so that families no longer have to cope with the loss of a child from this disease ever again. For further information about the charity please click on this link http://www.meningitisuk.org/meningitis.htm

Thank you xx
