Story

Thanks for visiting our Chilterns 3 Peaks fundraising page.

Two years ago my sister Alison, her dog Tal & I Walked The Chalk, the first ever Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge, in memory of my lovely hubby Bill, who was taken from us so devastatingly swiftly 6 years ago this summer. Last year I helped marshal the 2nd 3 Peaks Challenge Event & this year I shall again Walk The Chalk - the 9 mile sponsored walk along the Ridgeway, climbing the 3 Peaks of Whiteleaf Cross, Coombe Hill & Ivinghoe Beacon, in aid of the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home – this time, as Team Bill with 2 of my cousins, Penny & Lucy, both of whom have sadly suffered from recent Sibling Bereavement.

The Iain Rennie Hospice at Home was such a comfort during the 4 weeks we were granted from the onslaught of Bill’s cancer. IRHH are able to care for terminally ill children & adults in their own homes, thereby negating the distressing & often scary necessity to go into hospital. For Bill, being able die at home, in familiar surroundings, encircled by his beloved family with friends whom he loved & who loved him dearly, made his burden so much easier to bear. To witness the calming care of the Iain Rennie nurses was a very uplifting experience & I have been supporting their endeavours ever since. We are enormously privileged in this area to have free access to a local Hospice at Home service. Although there are very many wonderfully caring hospices around the country, it is the ‘At Home’ aspect that makes IRHH so particularly special.

By fundraising for them again this year, Team Bill hope to step out putting best foot forward so that more terminally ill loved ones will be able to benefit from IRHH's very special care. In 2009, through your fabulous support & the wonders of Gift Aid, we managed to raise in excess of £3000 for IRRH, so please consider sponsoring Team Bill today & let’s see how much we can raise this year!!

All of the money raised will be put towards keeping the fantastic Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice Care nurses on the road throughout 2011 - we need your help!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thank you for you support & remember you're all welcome to come along and join us when we Walk the Chalk!
