Story
From couch to climbing! Anyone who knows Phil & I would not consider us mountaineers or particularly fit, which is why we really really need you're support.
We started an intensive 4-5 times per week training programme in January to be able to trek the 40km of rough terrain over 3 days this July. And yes, being back in the gym in your 40's is literally like climbing a mountain!
So, to the why?
Because Brain Tumours are the biggest killer of under 40's, which we only found out when our best friends, James & Michelle, lost their scrummy little boy George; a twin and only 3 years old, who died just 6 weeks after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Think about that for a minute. 6 weeks from having a happy, funny, energetic toddler to planning his funeral. How are his parents and family supposed to get their heads around that? They don't.
We have seen their terrible heartbreak and marveled at their amazing strength, courage and commitment to their boys Oscar, and George's twin Austin, who also have to endure grief and confusion at losing their brother.
Despite this they continue to raise money for the BTC regardless of their immense loss and pain. Team George has raised almost £100k so far through his mum selling hundreds of scarves at school fetes and craft fairs, and his dad completing the London marathon last year (and he's doing it again this year - we know, mad!). That's how important this cause is.
We remain totally gutted for their loss and so immensely proud to be their friends; so now it's our turn, as a tribute to them and George.
👟Help us smash the £100k 👊🏻
