Story
Being a father of two young girls—Leila
and Noor—I know just how important education is for their future to become independent and have a positive influence on society. We are lucky to
be able to take access to schooling for granted.
In developing countries, however, there are millions of children that don't have that opportunity. Without access to education, they may never reach their potential, and they and their families will stay trapped in a cycle of poverty.
During the last few years, I've been supporting Read Foundation who work tirelessly to provide education to children in difficult environments, allowing them an opportunity that most kids in the west don’t think twice about.
“READ Foundation was originally established in Kashmir and Pakistan, and now operates in Bangladesh, Lebanon and Yemen, serving those children who need it most. Our focus is to make education work for them, as we believe it is the most powerful tool in alleviating poverty and really making a difference to their lives.” (https://readfoundation.org.uk/)
As a business owner who is actively growing my company, I have to push myself and my team. Often, I have to step out of my comfort zone to develop and learn. It’s both challenging and rewarding.
This year, I have decided to challenge myself even further. I have committed to doing the K2 Trek to support the Read Foundation. As I have never even spent a single night in a tent, let alone tried high altitude base camp trekking, I think it’s fair to say my comfort zone will be out of sight!
