Story
During Lockdown 2021 with all the tragedy of the pandemic we all lost family and friends to Covid-19. I decided it might be good for my own healing to write a song for lost loved ones with a truly Scottish feel.
That song was entitled ‘Slàinte Mhath’ (pronounced Slanj-a-vah) it is a love letter to all the ones we have lost over the covid years. The song encourages you to raise a glass in their memory with a toast, saying "Cheers" in classic Scottish fashion, saying "Slàinte Mhath", which in Gaelic translates to “Good Health”.
We decided to release the song as a Charity single in aid of Strathcarron Hospice. Strathcarron Hospice is an icon of the Forth Valley community. It has been a big part of all our lives growing up and has been there to care for our family members and give support to our families when we were most vulnerable. On a fundraising music night we raised £1,000.28 with the help of local musicians and local businesses. We would be honoured to continue our fundraising journey for such a worthy cause.
The single & video for Slàinte Mhath will be released on Saturday 3rd December 2022 on all download and streaming platforms with all proceeds going to Strathcarron Hospice.
The music video in support of this single was filmed during our charity fundraiser hosted at The Birds & Bees, Stirling. Additional footage of local musicians playing the song to the backdrop of Stirling Castle and in the picturesque grounds of Strathcarron Hospice also features in the video.
As an independent charity Strathcarron Hospice, need to raise £14,632 every day to keep their services running. With the effects of the pandemic and cost of living crisis, donations are needed more than ever. Any donation you can afford will help Strathcarron Hospice continue to give end of life care to those who need your help most.
Many thanks,
