I'll be spending a week in March volunteering at a dog rescue in Spain called Galgos Del Sol (GDS). 

Galgos are similar to greyhounds and are widely used by hunters in the rural areas of Spain for both hunting and hare coursing with betting. When the short hunting season ends each year, thousands are abandoned or killed by their owners to whom they are no longer of use. 

GDS work tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate and home abandoned galgos, but the work is never over - having sponsored dogs and followed GDS on Social Media for the past 2 years I have been horrified at the way these beautiful animals are treated and in awe of the work the GDS team do - they are incredible!
