Story
Hi All,
As many of you know I am going to The Millennium Elephant Foundation in November as a volunteer. The Freedom Fence would be a major development for the elephants at MEF and the first of it's kind in Sri Lanka. The Freedom Fence would allow the nelly's at MEF to socialise and interact more freely and in a more natural way, they would have 24 hour access to the river and over 325000 feet to roam around in and play.
The Fence is all mapped out and planned but the estimated cost is £50,000. Any donation, big or small WILL make a difference and bring MEF one step closer to achieving their dream.
MEF is unique in that not only does it care for their herd of elephants but it is also home to the Mobile Veterinary Unit which not only treats their own elephants but also travels around Sri Lanka to many religious festivals or wild elephants in need.

Adam's Peak -
In short, it's a bloody big mountain, takes a long time to climb and will be damn hot!
"Though not the highest mountain of Sri Lanka, the striking pyramid of Adam's Peak (7,360 ft) is certainly the most remarkable. A depression in the rocky summit resembles a huge footprint, which has been venerated as a sacred sigh from remote antiquity. This was identified by Buddhists as the Buddha's footprint, by Hindus as that of Shiva, and by Muslims as Adam's. Later the Portuguese attributed it to St. Thomas the Apostle."
Any amount, from £1 to £100 really will help make a difference to the lives of these wonderful elephants. Plus, I'm sure you all want to see photo's of me struggling my way up a mountain don't you?? (in the dark I might add, the climb is done before sunrise!)
Thanking you in advance,
Georgie xxx
