Story
I'm running the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2022 for Movember and men's health. On March 23rd 2020 my Dad tragically took his own life. My family and were aware he was low, but obviously we had no idea quite how low. Dad was caring, intelligent, kind and fiercely loving. As a family we were at our happiest when outside exploring and this is something which continues to bring me great solace and joy. It is heart breaking to me that Dad has been robbed of the opportunity to be in the great outdoors and it gives me all the more impetus to set myself challenges, such as this one, to live on his behalf. This is a hard, but important, learning that my family and I have tried to hold on to whilst grieving for Dad. That is, the idea that we are the ones left behind and so we have to do our best to continue to live our lives to the full in spite of our traumatic loss.
As with the walk, I want to continue to do everything in my power to raise awareness of male mental health and, in particular, male suicide. Please give anything you can to this extremely worthy cause - there is so much more that could be done to help end the stigma. Thank you in advance.
