Hello, my name's Georgia, I'm Henry's mum.

In April I will be swimming the distance of the channel in my local pool, that's 22 miles, 35.4km or 1614 lengths. This challenge is usually completed over 12 weeks but I've set my own personal challenge to do it in a month. I'm doing this to raise money for Forget Me Not Children's Hospice whose support to me and my family after the death of my son Henry has meant more than I could ever say.

Henry's Story
On 11th October 2017 after a normal, straightforward, low-risk pregnancy Henry was born calm, alert and apparently completely healthy, two hours later he stopped breathing and despite the best efforts of doctors died. We don't know why he died, he seemed completely healthy and his death is unexplained.

In the immediate aftermath of Henry's death Forget Me Not took care of me and my husband and allowed us to spend the little time we had with Henry in the best possible way. 

We were taken directly to the hospice from hospital by a member of hospice staff and here we were able to spend a few days with Henry in the Snowflake suite, a self contained apartment where we had the space and privacy to make memories together as a family. The hospice team took care of all our practical needs from liaising with funeral directors and registrars to feeding us, nothing was too much trouble. Henry had his own cooled room so we were able to spend as much time as we wanted with him and were able to make memories, things like taking his hand and foot prints, taking photos and doing normal everyday things like dressing him, brushing his hair and reading to him. When you're trying to fit a lifetime of memories into a few days everything matters and we were given the time, space and guidance to make the most of the short time we had together. 

At the darkest moment of our lives when we needed somebody to take us by the hand and guide us the Forget Me Not team did. The care we've received was been beyond exceptional and is still ongoing. In those very early days when we felt so lost and alone Forget Me Not were there and it is because of them we have tangible keepsakes to hold onto and our most cherished memories. I don't know where we'd be without them.
