Story
We are all friends of George and his amazing family Andy, Lourdes and Bruno. As we were unsuccessful in our ballot application for the 2022 London Marathon, we decided to hold our own events on and up to the 2nd October. The purpose - to raise funds for George through a range of physical and sporting challenges to help equip his home based educational and learning spaces. Runs, swims, bike rides, walks and other feats of strength and endurance will be conducted at our home towns around the country, much like the sporting activities that brought us all together as a group of friends at University in Essex back in the early 90s. George is 12 years old and an incredibly talented young man - a keen musician. George was born with blindness and later on in his young life was diagnosed with autism, pathological demand avoidance and high anxiety. There were no appropriate schooling options for George in his home town on the South Coast, leading the family to move around the country numerous times before finding home and settling in Lincolnshire. Here, Andy and Lourdes have dedicated their time to build a home and environment where George can be educated in a space which will increase his confidence and where he can thrive. This selfless act to meet George's needs helps ensure he has every available opportunity to develop is only possible with the support of charities like the Naval Children's Charity and other fundraising events and donations.
