Tomorrow I am going to do the 2.6 challenge and shave my head in 26 seconds for a charity called Dig Deep which is very close to my heart and sanitisation and cleanliness is paramount at this time. I have 26 hours to raise money!
Small independent charities are struggling to carry out their work at this time with limited or no donations!
Challenge
I am going to completely shave my head via a series of different hairstyles in 26 seconds each.... the bowl, Mohawk, monk and finally bald! I will finally know what it’s like for my dad with no hair on top!
Why am I shaving my head? Well because l’m quite vain and like my hair and the charities founder said he’d sponsor me £200 if I did which would be more than if I ran a marathon (which is not possible!)
Cause
In February 2018 I cycled across the Masai Mara in Kenya on one of Dig Deeps fundraisers and saw the communities which have benefitted from the work Dig Deep do. What shocked me most was seeing children come from miles around collecting drinking water in the same waterhole that they were washing clothes and their animals were standing in.
Clean drinking water, safe toilets and good hygiene are essential, and yet in rural Kenya, too many children and communities lack these services. Where we take for granted simple things like toilets and water taps...these communities don’t have access to either!
Dig Deep works to help schools and communities get access to water and sanitation. Put simply, they use rain water harvesting to provide fresh & clean water and build taps and toilets and training to ensure that water and sanitation services are maintained for the long term and provide vital hygiene training to the next generation.
