Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Many of you will most likely not be aware of the fact shortly after the birth of my first child in 2016 at the age of 30 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. It turns out I should have been diagnosed much earlier, perhaps in 2009 when I would have been 23. In a very bizarre turn of events my Mum was also diagnosed with MS last year and should have been diagnosed much earlier but hers was confused by a brain aneurysm that she had surgery for a few years back.
Anyone that knows me know will know I am not one to use this as an excuse, if anything I am finding it is encouraging me to stay as fit and active as I can and it was during a works fitness challenge at the beginning of the year I got this bright idea of doing a exercise challenge. Unfortunately MS has ensured running isn't an option for me and years ago I did the London to Brighton bike ride for charity so felt I needed something different and that's when I thought what a great idea... do a 100k walk across the south of England over 2 days! It was only when telling the first few people I had signed up I realized perhaps how much I had bitten off. But if you know me you know I will not let anything stop me from doing this, its something I really want to complete whilst I am able too because with MS no one knows what the future holds for me and how this may effect me. I am lucky I have been on a Disease modifying drug for 2 years and I am stable and long that may continue but due to the delay in diagnosis for my mum she does have issues with her mobility and uses crutches (although she is often still found on a dance floor given half a chance). If the Pandemic has taught me anything its that you really don't know whats coming so life really is for living. The money that is raised will go to help further research into MS and hopefully help people like myself and my Mum have bright outlooks!
