Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In June my friend David and his partner Janine, received the news that their beautiful daughter Sophia had a very rare condition known as Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID) just a few days after she was born after a routine heel prick test.

SCID is a condition where your body cannot protect itself against any incoming infections or virus’, allowing it to take over the body. Even a common cold could kill. Affecting 1 baby in 58,000 in the UK.

I am raising money for the Bubble Foundation based at the Great North Children’s Hospital in Newcastle, where Sophia is receiving treatment, which includes being in a sterile, air-locked ‘bubble’ room, where she is receiving precise care, treatment and chemotherapy to remove any existing T Cells and infections.

Sophia has recently received her donor bone marrow transplant provided by Janine, which will hopefully cure her SCID, by re-building Sophia's immune system, so she can be protected. For life.

To raise funds I am going to be completing a squat challenge throughout the month of September. I will start on the 1st by doing 10 squats, 20 on the 2nd and so on until eventually on the 30th September completing 300 squats.

Any funds raised will be used towards caring for current patients and funding invaluable research into the condition to find more effective treatments and ultimately a cure.

Thank you.
