Story
I am raising money for the Rosemary Suite on the Lexton ward at Colchester General Hospital that specialise in the heartbreaking loss of a child, the staff and Midwife made my best friends feel at ease and at home during one of the most difficult times of their life. The welcome and support they received on this ward was second to none, and I would like to raise money for equipment and luxuries for couples going through similar situations.
If everyone could just give this a quick read id very much appreciate it. Next year, from January-December I will be raising money for the Lexton Wards Rosemary suite at Colchester general hospital that specialise in the heartbreaking event of giving birth to a still born baby.
At their 20 week scan (when you find out the gender of the child), Two of my best friends had the unfortunate and devastating news that their baby boy had one of the most severe cases of spina bifida possible, seriously affecting and stopping growth of the brain and spinal cord.
Not only did they have to go through the emotion of this traumatic news and grieve the loss of their baby boy, but they also had to go through the labour and give birth.
These situations are a lot more common than we think and its taken something like this for us to realise that. During their time in the Rosemary suite the midwife and staff were absolutely incredible, making them feel as at home as possible.
They were compassionate, comforting and understanding. At one point they even allowed 24 of us in the suite with them for support for hours at the same time. The money raised will be used for research into equipment to spot the signs of Spina Bifida at a much earlier stage of pregnancy, as well as luxuries and items to make the suite feel more like home. I will be participating in a different challenge every month, some physically challenging, some mentally challenging and others just absolutely ridiculous 😂 On the first of every month I will disclose the next challenge and pester you for money.
Any donations will be appreciated, no matter how big or small. And to those that donate, I fucking love you.
