Story
One ordinary morning last August Gary died unexpectedly from a heart attack. It was very quick, he didn’t suffer and he knew I was with him. Yet despite the amazing efforts of 7 paramedics, who came in 3 vehicles and an air ambulance, it was Gary’s time to go.
Gary and I met at a Folk Music night in the NAAFI at RAF Lyneham where we were both stationed some 40 years ago. We've had the most amazing life together that we have been lucky enough to share it with our wonderful family, friends and the all the communities we have been a part of over the years.
Gary was an extraordinary man, he played many roles throughout his life; from Aircraft Refurbishing to Upholstery, School Governor to Youth Offending panels, Musician to fly fisherman, but above all the role he was most proud of was that of being a “househusband”.
“We’re Jammin’ for Gary” on his birthday to celebrate the many roles that he played in all our lives and decided to raise funds for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance. This vital service cost on average £2,500 per flight and relies solely on charity. Gary loved aircraft, he would have been so chuffed to have known that one came out for him and landed on our village Cricket Field.
