Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This is an update due to the marathon being cancelled. Thank you to all those who donated originally. It has been a hard time for everyone but I hope to raise more for this wonderful cause.

Emma Wilson was my partner's cousin who became a good friend of mine.  She was fun, always thinking of others, loved anything sparkly (and purple) and was one of those people in life who just made you smile.  Emma passed away in August 2019.

She was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and fought a hard battle for over two years. Emma never complained even though she had to spend so much time in the Belfast City Hospital.  Emma was more concerned about the long hours the nurses worked!  One of those who nursed her said "it was a pleasure to know her and an honour to nurse her".

Emma had just celebrated her 40th birthday - she managed to have the party she really wanted and at home complete with disco ball and 90's disco "tunes"!

Emma was an inspiration in so many ways.  She was a mother, a daughter, a sister, a cousin and dear friend.

We spent a long weekend away at Hope House with Emma in July 2019 which was to be her last holiday. Even though we knew at that stage Emma's diagnosis was terminal it was a fantastic weekend with more laughter than tears and Emma enjoying every minute - wrapped in a blanket to enjoy the bbq, admiring the beautiful sea view, spotting seals and watching the P&O ferries sail by!  That's how we wish to remember Emma. Fun loving and inspirational.   Emma reminded us to live in the moment.

I wish to raise money to help Hope House build their fund for their new property.  Emma always thought of others and this is a fitting tribute for to give something back and remember Emma. Hope House offers a tranquil respite for those with cancer and their loved ones.
